NFL Draft Day 2 analysis

I love Day 2 of the NFL draft. Maybe even more so than Day 1, mainly because the value you get down here. There are still some very good players available for Day 3 of the draft, but let's get down to which teams did well yesterday and which teams didn't.

2012 NFL Draft - Rds 2/3

Welcome to the official 2nd and 3rd round blog of The Perfect Pass.

That was a ridiculous first round. 12 trades. I expect just as many today. With the 1st round being separated from rounds 2 and 3, many teams have had a chance to analyze which players on their big board are surprisingly available and there's sure to be much trade activity on top of the 2nd round. Much more on this after the jump.

Round 1 Analysis

Winners/Losers: It's hard to pick winners and losers a day after the draft. To get a true picture, this exercise should be done at least two years after the draft. But I think certain teams did well at first glance, and certain teams, well, didn't do so well.

NFL Draft rumors

Some last week rumors that should probably be dismissed but I just love playing "what if"

NFL Mock Draft

Mock drafts are fun to read as a fan. They're even fun to do. But in the end they are pretty useless. It's almost impossible to know what's actually going to happen in the 1st round (and some of these mocks try to predict all 7 rounds). There are too many factors: team needs, team rankings of the players (which presumably takes into account each player's strengths, weaknesses, injury concerns, character issues, and intangibles), tendencies of the front office personnel, and everything unexpected that is sure to happen on draft day (trades, players being unexpectedly available etc.). So, anyways, here's my first and only 2012 mock NFL draft.

Madden Cover Curse: Truth or Fiction?

The 2013 Madden Cover is set to be released by EA Sports on April 25 - the day before the NFL draft. This year, the contenders are down to Calvin Johnson aka Megatron and Rookie of the Year Cam Newton. The contest to land on the cover of the Madden game has become sort of a popularity contest. But it got me thinking, should it be?

2012 NFL Schedule Released!

The NFL finally unveiled the 2012 regular season schedule. The league does a lot of things right but the schedule doesn't usually seem to be one of them. Here are some interesting matchups I see at first glance:

13 Interesting players (Friday the 13th NFL draft edition)

1. Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State - Overrated. I think he's a mid-round pick that is the beneficiary of a deep WR class but no premier talent.

Luck v. RGIII - Who should go #1 overall?

Former Stanford QB - Andrew Luck has been the consensus #1 overall pick for the 2012 NFL Draft since he was born (OK fine, maybe it was just since the last draft, but it did feel like forever). And then, out of nowhere, 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III from Baylor has entered the conversation at #1 overall. A comparison of both players after the jump.

Intro

I apologize in advance for the longest blog post ever. This being the introduction and all, I thought it was important to show you where I'm coming from. I promise the posts from here on out will be much shorter. More after the jump.
